1. Introduction & Core Principle
FolioBill ("we", "our", or "the app") is designed as an offline-first invoicing tool for independent freelancers, contractors, and businesses. We do not require you to create an account, register your email, or synchronize your financial records with any custom cloud server.
However, because the application integrates Google Mobile Ads (Free tier) and Google Play Billing (for the optional one-time Lifetime Pro upgrade), certain diagnostic, advertising, and transaction data is handled by those external SDKs as described in this policy.
2. Information Handled Strictly on Your Device
All your business and client invoicing data remains stored locally within private application storage on your Android device:
- Business Profile: Business name, physical address, email, phone number, and optional logo image.
- Client Information: Client name, email address, physical address, and phone number.
- Invoice Line Items: Descriptions, quantities, unit prices, tax percentages, and discount rates.
- Remittance Notes: Payment instructions, bank details, and invoice terms.
We do not transmit, back up, or inspect your invoices or financial records. They remain under your control. If you uninstall the app or clear app data, locally stored invoices are deleted unless you have explicitly exported them.
3. User-Initiated Exports and File Sharing
- PDF Invoices & CSV Reports: When you choose to export, print, or share an invoice or CSV spreadsheet, FolioBill generates the file in app-private temporary storage and invokes standard Android system sharing and printing services.
- Destination: You decide where to send the file, for example through email, messaging apps, or a local file manager. FolioBill does not send your exported files to any external server.
4. Google Mobile Ads & Google User Messaging Platform (UMP)
In the Free tier of FolioBill, banner advertisements are displayed on the Home screen only.
- Advertising Partner: Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads.
- Data Collected by AdMob: Device identifiers, such as the Android Advertising ID, general IP-based approximate location, interaction data, and diagnostic performance metrics.
- User Consent & Privacy Choices (UMP): FolioBill implements the official Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK. When required by applicable regulations, such as the GDPR in the EEA/UK and state privacy laws in the United States, users are presented with the official Google consent form upon launch.
-
Managing Privacy Choices:
If eligible, you can modify your consent preferences at any
time by navigating to
Settings > Manage Privacy Choices. - Pro Tier Ad Removal: Purchasing the Lifetime Pro upgrade permanently disables all AdMob banner placements and terminates all ad requests.
5. Google Play Billing
-
One-Time Non-Consumable Purchase:
FolioBill offers a one-time Lifetime Pro purchase
(
foliobill_pro_lifetime) processed exclusively through Google Play Billing. - Payment Information: We do not collect, process, or store credit card numbers or financial account credentials. All billing transactions are managed directly by Google Play under Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
- Entitlement Verification: The app verifies the non-consumable purchase token with Google Play services on your device and caches the entitlement locally for legitimate offline verification.
6. Permissions Requested
FolioBill requests only minimal and strictly necessary Android permissions:
-
android.permission.INTERNET: Required for Google Play Billing queries, AdMob ad serving (Free tier), and UMP consent updates. - System Photo Picker: Used for optional business logo selection (Pro tier). The app uses the Android system photo picker, which grants scoped access only to the user-selected image, avoiding broad storage permissions.
-
Cleartext network traffic is disabled
(
android:usesCleartextTraffic="false").
7. Data Retention & Deletion
- Invoices: Retained in app-private SQLite storage until deleted by the user or upon app uninstallation.
- Manual Deletion: Deleting an invoice immediately and permanently removes its record from the local database.
8. Third-Party Links
The app contains links to external web pages, such as this Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites.
